Red clover (Trifolium pratense ) is a legume (or pulse). Other examples of legumes include chickpeas, lentils and soybeans.

How does Novogen Redclover work?
At midlife, the body's own hormone levels start declining and a woman can feel quite unlike her normal self. Supplementing your diet with Novogen Redclover may assist in the improvement of well being when these hormones are declining and dietary intake of isoflavones is inadequate.
Isoflavones are phytoestrogens, which literally means, “plant oestrogens”. Isoflavones are similar in chemical structure to the body’s own estrogen, and when consumed in adequate amounts they are able to mimic some of the effects of estrogen to assist with maintaining health and well being. Isoflavones supplement the needs of women over 45 when levels of hormones are declining.
What does Novogen Redclover contain?
Each tablet contains a total of 40 mg of four standardised isoflavones, genistein, daidzein, formononetin and biochanin sourced from red clover (Trifolium pratense). The biologically active ingredients are naturally occurring plant hormones, which are NOT chemically synthesised.
Novogen Redclover is free from sugar, yeast, milk derivatives, wheat and corn starch, gluten, preservatives, artificial colours and flavours.
What is the recommended daily dose of Novogen Redclover?
Scientific studies indicate that the amount of isoflavones contained in one Novogen Redclover tablet is approximately equivalent to the amount of isoflavones consumed by people on a traditional vegetarian diet which includes a high legume intake. Therefore, we recommend that one Novogen Redclover tablet per day is sufficient for most women to help manage the symptoms of menopause naturally.
How long does it take before I will see the benefits of Novogen Redclover?
Between 2 and 6 weeks.

What is the calcium content in Novogen Redclover, and is this enough to use as a daily supplement?
Novogen Redclover is a dietary supplement specifically formulated to provide isoflavones rather than calcium.
Each tablet contains approximately 45mg of calcium. The recommended intake of calcium is approximately 1000 mg per day, which would normally be expected to be obtained from other calcium-rich foods in your diet. Always ensure that dietary calcium intake is sufficient unless otherwise specified by your health care professional.
Is Novogen Redclover compatible with the oral contraceptive pill or HRT?
It is recommended that you consult your healthcare professional about taking any dietary supplement whilst taking prescribed hormone medication.
Can I change from HRT to Novogen Redclover?
To date, all of the clinical trials with Novogen Redclover in post-menopausal women required that no HRT was taken in recent months. In practice, it is anticipated that some time will be needed to allow the body to adjust to the change from synthetic hormones to the natural isoflavone approach. The following suggestions should be discussed with your doctor before any changeover is contemplated:
1) Take both HRT and Novogen Redclover (one tablet daily) together for a period of time, before gradually reducing the dose of HRT.
2) Stop HRT and start Novogen Redclover twice daily (or until menopause symptoms are managed), then
1 tablet thereafter.
3) Stop HRT and start Novogen Redclover one tablet daily. However, there may be significant menopauser symptoms associated with an abrupt changeover until the patient adjusts.
Can I use Novogen Redclover if I'm still getting regular monthly periods?
Each tablet of Novogen Redclover contains 40mg of isoflavones. 40 mg per day is the daily dietary dose both men and women are exposed to every day of their life in Japan, so it is anticipated that the isoflavones levels in Novogen Redclover will not interfere with your normal menstrual cycle.
What is the difference between red clover products and between red clover and soy isoflavones?
Not all red clover products are the same. The leaves of the plant contain the highest amount of isoflavones. Red clover blossoms contain little or no isoflavones so products such as red clover tea will not provide any measurable isoflavone levels.
Red clover and soy are both legumes and belong to the same family of plants. The main difference is that red clover contains four active isoflavones whereas soy only has two.
